This 16th century Italian painting by Solario hangs in the Louvre in Paris. It’s entitled “The Virgin with the Green Cushion.” Perhaps today it might be better known as The Original Boppy!

There are boards for adoptive breastfeeding, pumping, breastfeeding while pregnant, tandem nursing–you name it. Some are moderated and some even have […]

Medela is a Swiss company founded in 1961. It makes the personal use pumps the Medela New Pump In […]

Happy Father’s Day! One of La Leche League’s ten principles says it all when it comes to the father’s role in supporting breastfeeding:
Breastfeeding is enhanced and the nursing couple sustained by the loving support, help, and companionship of the baby’s father. A father’s unique relationship with his baby is an important element in the child’s […]

On-line breastfeeding communities have their own abbreviations. I’m discovering that the community of breastfeeding professionals has its own set of abbreviations too.
AAFP = American Academy of Family Physicians, which recommends exclusive breastfeeding for six months and warns: “If the child is younger than two years of age, the child is at increased risk of illness […]
