Breastfeeding 1-2-3

Breastfeeding Quote from “The Other Boleyn Girl”

by Angela White, J.D., breastfeeding counselor on March 31st, 2007

The Other Boleyn GirlI’m reading the historical novel The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. Being set in the English royal court in the 1500s it’s not exactly breastfeeding-friendly, but this passage charmed me:

I held her in my arms constantly. There was a wet nurse to attend her, but I argued that my breasts hurt so much that I must let her suckle, and I cunningly kept her to myself. I fell in love with her.

p. 160. Good book!
