Breastfeeding 1-2-3

The Ultimate Taste Test

by Angela White, J.D., breastfeeding counselor on November 3rd, 2006

Taste some infant formulas sometime. Why any kid would drink this is beyond my comprehension, this stuff tastes awful. And if you ever get the chance you should taste some breast milk, I’ll have to tell you that this stuff tastes delicious.

Pennsylvania State University Professor Dr. Jordan Finkelstein to his Biobehavioral Health 101 class, as quoted in the PSU Daily Jolt professor quote archive. Now that’s quite an endorsement!

LOL! Makes me wonder when, where and in what circumstances he got to try breastmilk. I’ll assume that his wife nursed…though I never did convince DH to taste mine the last go round…I kept telling him it tastes like cantaloupe…he keeps saying he doesn’t like cantaloupe…lol

My husband doesn’t like cantaloupe either LOL. The girls both do though - must be some correlation!

this is great! my family thinks i’m crazy but if i have to pump and leave him with a bottle then i taste it before i give it to the caretaker. i want to make sure that it’s ok…also when i defrost it. many articles will tell you that it’s good for a certain number of days or months, but it all depends on the proper working order of the refrigerator. i’m glad i starting tasting it because i defrosted some once that was supposedly good for another week and it tasted awful! my baby definitely would have spit it up. so my advice is to taste it before you expect your child to comsume it. it’s not weird to want to know what your baby is ingesting and it IS much better than formula!

[...] If your wife is willing, sure! You can taste it straight from the source (as Chandler said, the packaging certainly appeals to adults!) or from a cup. It tastes sweet and a whole heck of a lot better than artificial milk. Don’t take my word for it though–read what this Penn State professor had to say! [...]
